Impact

Building Governance

  • Facilitated Community Forest Rights for 760 villages in coordination with government line departments and also prepared Conservation and Management plans (CMPs) for 105 Gramsabhas.
  • Impacted 12 tribal villages in Maregaon block with Habitat right under CFR.
  • Established cadre of 270 barefoot technicians in tribal villages.
  • Facilitation of GPDP process in more than 300 villages across the district.

NRM & Climate Change

  • Working with 20,000 farmers on techniques of LEISA, Better Cotton Standard Systems (BCSS), Natural Farming increasing in crop yield from 2-3 quintals to 6 quintals
  • Created 38 large size water bodies de-silted increased water holding capacity irrigating more than 1000 ha of farmland.
  • Rejuvenating Nirguda river and its sub-streams in Maregaon block using Doha model technology. This created 17 Kms length of Doha structures which is now storing additional 1.5 lakh cubic meters irrigating additional 750 hectares land.
  • 1500 Recharge-pits cum low-cost wells constructed with a storage capacity of 200000 cubic meters of water led to 1500 farmers now taking the second crop as well.
  • 62 crores mobilized through convergence for the development of CFR lands which includes SMC, plantation, water conservation.
  • Developing Shiratoki tribal village as a model of Holistic & Collective Natural (HOCO) Farming. A total of 25 farmers from the PVTG community pull their 130 acres of farmland together with planning and managing their all resources collectively along with the production and marketing of their farm produce.
  • Developed 10,000 Ha of Watershed using Ridge to Valley concept.
  • Through Diversion-based irrigation (Phad irrigation) impacted 156 tribal farmers with enhanced there are of protective irrigation.
  • Cement Nala bunds (CNBs) benefitted 152 farmers. Increased water level nearer wells, bore wells and farmers used CNB water for irrigation and some rabbi area is also increased.
  • Constructed more than 170 Farm ponds benefitted farmers to go for second crop and increased their area for protective irrigation.
  • Impacted more than 2000 farmers through Graded bunding with the reduction in soil erosion.
  • Enhanced storage capacities of water bodies through desilting of the irrigation tanks a total of 1200 farmers benefitted as of now.
  • Enhanced water efficient usage in farmland through promotion of water efficient devices (Sprinkler, drip, diesel engine etc)
  • Established nurseries with forest species in CFR villages resulting in an increase in green canopy & forest cover.
  • Impacted 1500 farmers through the promotion of farmer’s collectives (FPOs) in Maregaon & Zari-Jamani blocks managing overall production, marketing & value addition.

Livelihood & Entrepreneurship Development

  • Market linkages and value chain development through Small & Micro enterprises (SME) such as 7 Dal Mills, 1 Jute processing unit, 147 HH Dairy Units, 16 milk collection centres, 500 HH Goat rearing unit, 1000 HH Poultry units, 1 Honey processing unit, 1 Mahua oil Processing, 1 Bamboo Processing unit, 100 Mahua Banks & 1-Chiranji decorticator unit impacted more than 5000 families with enhanced their level of income by 20 to 30%.
  • GSMT has impacted the lives of 38 farmers through the promotion of horticulture which could be an additional income source to the existing agriculture.

Women Empowerment & Gender Equity

  • Functional 695 women SHGs having 7014 women members through facilitation by GSMT. Enhanced women’s participation & representation in the overall development and decision-making process of villages along with other economic activities.
  • Increased women’s participation in the decision-making processes at the village level through the facilitation of GSMT. Formation of women Gram sabha federation with 413 members in it.

Community Health & Nutrition

  • 12000 tribal families adopted vegetable Kitchen gardening for consumption and to sell surplus.
  • 1619 beneficiaries from PLHIV have been linked with the different schemes of the government, thus allowing them to live life with dignity.
  • Consistency in providing different types of treatment and services to the beneficiaries that helped them to overcome mental as well as social trauma.
  • Provided home services to the beneficiaries (FSWs) during the COVID-19 pandemic has helped the beneficiaries get medical and emergency services without any disturbances.
  • Functional District Disabled People Organisation (DDPO) & Block Disabled People Organisations (8-BDPOs) in Yavatmal and functioning well with handholding support of GSMT.
  • A total of 96 Children with disabilities improved their level of self-care, communication, and academic competencies.
  • A total of 333 PwDs enhanced skills, access to social security & livelihood schemes and improved their level of income.
  • In 35 villages of Yavatmal block of Yavatmal district, GSMT has facilitated the formation of Village Health, nutrition, Water and Sanitation Committees (VHNWSCs).

Child Rights Protection & Quality Education

  • Our consistency in Protection from Abuse/ Sexual Abuse, Shelter, Child Labour, Medical Help, Child Marriage, Missing, Child, Begging Child, Sponsorship through various programs/projects.
  • GSMT has established Anand Balsadan for children of women with high risks in the year 2000. Anand Balsadan Impacted the lives of around more than 600 children in the age group of 1-18 years to become responsible citizens.
  • The Ministry of women and child development department of Maharashtra recognised this Balsadan in the form of Balgruh in Jalka village in Maregaon block and Lalguda village in Wani block of Yavatmal district.
  • GSMT has established a Late Laxmibai Moghe High school for Rural & tribal children in village Jalka from Maregaon block of Yavatmal district impacting thousands of underprivileged and deprived children through providing quality and joyful education.
  • Quality Learning Initiative (QLI) impacting children from 27 tribal villages with stregthning of Education Gramsabhas, effective Shikshan Parishad, facilitating Classroom processes to achieve learning outcomes.

Networking & Collaborations

  • We have consistency in participation in various networks and forums at district, State, National & international levels that impacted our growth in mobilising resources for community and knowledge sharing along with cross-learnings of best practices that are likely to intervene in our areas of operation.

Disaster Management

  • Facilitated the process to develop a disaster Management plan in 145 villages from 90 GPs in the Yavatmal district.
  • Impacted more than 100000 HHs during the COVID-19 pandemic by coordinating and supporting community in the various aspects i.e. food, health check-ups, safety measures, vaccination drives etc
